WHATSAPP TABLE TOPICS 2: "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right."

Good Evening Table Topics Toastmaster Truven and all other Ana Fonte Toastmasters too. I would like to have a very neutral and balanced approach to this amazing and truthful saying of Henry Ford. That is.
"Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right."

I STRESS THAT THE ABOVE QUOTE INCREASES THE CHANCES OF SUCCESS TO THOSE WHO SAY I CAN. I repeat, it increases the chances. It’s not 100% that just by having the Quoted belief will achieve the 100% desired result.

Yes. I do believe that the Mind is the powerhouse of everything doable and everything that is achievable. There is absolutely NO SHADOW OF DOUBT in the efficiency of the Mind. Yes. If you THINK you can, then your MIND will work to put your body and its resources in the direction of that CAN DO positive attitude. If you THINK you CANNOT do, then the MIND will not proceed in that direction and will halt all the physical resources of the body to a full stop. This is totally true.

In a similar vein and meaning, much more earlier too, Social Scientists have made a similar statement as that of Henry Fords and that is, “Whatever the mind conceives, the mind can achieve.”

BUT PLEASE LETS PAUSE AND PROCEED. Just having a Positive Mind and Saying I CAN DO IT, without the proper tools, without proper preparation, without necessary qualifications, without adequate training, without good mentoring, without being at the right place and right time and many more internal and external factors, just the mind saying I CAN DO IT is just having Confidence but also along with it, the Soft or Hard Core Tools are also necessary in achieving the goals.

In Support of my above argument and in conclusion, I would like to read Simon Cassidy’s briefly quoted research on this specific quote of Henry Ford (he is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology, University of Salford)

What the quote suggests is that people’s beliefs about their abilities determine their chances of completing a task successfully (or not).  Psychologists refer to these beliefs about ability as self-efficacy. So our judgments and beliefs about our capabilities are important in real terms. It seems that judging yourself to be capable of success INCREASES YOUR CHANCES OF ACTUAL SUCCESS, while judging yourself as not capable of SUCCESS REDUCES YOUR CHANCES OF ACTUAL SUCCESS. In this respect and perspective, Henry Ford was absolutely right!
