Table Topics® is
a long-standing Toastmasters tradition intended to help members develop their
ability to organize their thoughts quickly and respond to an impromptu question
or topic.
- Table Topics typically begins after the prepared speech presentations.
- The Toastmaster will introduce the Topics master, who will give a brief description of Table Topics and then call on respondents at random.
- Your response should express your thoughts clearly and succinctly, lasting one to two minutes.

What is the purpose of table topics?
Table Topics are
impromptu speeches. The purpose of the Table Topics section is to help members
think on their feet and speak on a given subject for between one and two
minutes. It also allows speaking opportunities for those who are not programmed
for other roles on the Agenda.
How long is a table topics speech?
Toastmasters
International Table Topics have a time range of 1-2 minutes each. Green light
at 1 minute. Yellow light at 1 minute, 30 seconds. Red light at 2 minutes
What does the table topics master do?
Table Topics is the
section of a Toastmasters meeting where we all get to practice the art of
impromptu speaking. The Topics Master is responsible for running the Table
Topics session, the purpose of which is twofold: It enables us to develop the
skills of impromptu speaking.
